SYMPTOMS
When logging in to the ArchiveOne Search website, you receive the error:

"ArchiveOne Connection Failure
The website has failed to connect to the SQL database.

The connection string used was:
Data Source="";Integrated Security=SSPI;Initial Catalog=master;Connect Timeout=30

The Data source given in the SQL database connection string is blank.

ROOT CAUSE
Intermittently the AOneSearch web service fails to receive the SQL database connection string from the AOnePolServerDetails web service.

RESOLUTION
You will need to have at least version 6.5.1.2820 installed so that you can modify the AOneSearch web service configuration to use a default value for the SQL database connection string in the event one can't be obtained from AOnePolServerDetails. The configuration needs to be updated as follows:

1. On each web server that hosts the AOneSearch website, browse to C:\inetpub\wwwroot\AOneSearch.
2. Open the web.config file in Notepad.
3. Locate the following line:
<add key="OverrideSQLDatabaseServer" value=" "></add>
4. Update  value by adding your SQL server and instance.
<add key="OverrideSQLDatabaseServer" value="SERVER\INSTANCE"></add>
Where "SERVER\INSTANCE" is the name of the SQL database instance to be used (e.g. SERVER1\C2CARCHIVEONE)
5. Save and close the web.config file.
6. If you cannot find this value.
7. Locate the following lines:
< appSettings>
< !-- The filename used for the logfile in c2clogs -->
< add key="LogName" value="AOneSearch"></add>
8. Add the new configuration line as below:
< appSettings>
< !-- The filename used for the logfile in c2clogs -->
< add key="LogName" value="AOneSearch"></add>
<add key="OverrideSQLDatabaseServer" value="SERVER\INSTANCE"></add>
Where "SERVER\INSTANCE" is the name of the SQL database instance to be used (e.g. SERVER1\C2CARCHIVEONE).
9. Save and close the web.config file.
10. Open the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager from Administrative Tools on the Start Menu.
11. Expand the server name in the left hand tree and select Application Pools.
12. Right-click the application pool ‘Archive One’ and select Recycle...

Now retest the ArchiveOne website to confirm the SQL database connection string error is resolved.
