ArchiveOne Service fails to start with MAPI error 0x80040115

Scope: ArchiveOne Enterprise, all versions



The ArchiveOne Service fails to start. In the service tracing you can see the following error:

13 15:51:21   lpSvcAdmin->ConfigureMsgService using GC failed 0x80040115
13 15:51:21   EnsureValidLicence called but global session is null - exiting
13 15:51:21   *** INFO:Check licence failed due to Exchange connectivity
13 15:51:21   ReportCriticalFailure:EventLogged Service failed to log into the Exchange server. Check the server is running, and try logging into it using Outlook on the system that is running the ArchiveOne Enterprise Service.


There can be a number of root causes to this issue, either in your Exchange environment or the ArchiveOne configuration.


You should work through the following diagnostics steps:

1. If you have recently upgraded Exchange prior to the onset of the issue, be aware that ArchiveOne will require configuration changes. If you have not made any changes to ArchiveOne despite upgrading Exchange, then you should see How to reconfigure ArchiveOne Enterprise for a different Exchange server.
2. Confirm that you can login to the ArchiveOne service account mailbox in Outlook Web Access (OWA) or Outlook.
3. Create a static MAPI profile and retest the ArchiveOne service startup using this static profile. See How to configure ArchiveOne to use a static MAPI profile for further instructions.
