How Can the customer resolve message fails to retrieve with ?ACSS_UPDATE_SEARCH_FAILED? error

ArchiveOne Enterprise, v6.0 or later.


Retrieving an archived message fails via the Quick Link Client. The following error can be seen in trace:

InterpretWebServiceResponse:Error message ?Failed to find message in archive with AOne Server Status of ACSS_UPDATE_SEARCH_FAILED.?
RetrieveMessage returned status 35

The following can be seen in the service trace:

GetCurrentMasterIndexNumber: failed to get master index number file because ?E:\Archive One\Repositories\Year_2007\IndexE:\Archive One\Repositories\Year_2007\Index\Updates\MasterNumber.a1i contains an incorrect path.?


The Updates directory location is incorrectly defined in the repository definition file.


To resolve the incorrect path in the repository definition,
  1. Browse to: \\Configuration_server\Add-ins\AOnePol\Repositories
  2. Create a backup copy of the .C2C for the repository under investigation (e.g. Year_2007.c2c), in case you need to revert any changes.
  3. Open the .C2C file in Notepad.
  4. Find the line starting: DirForUpdatesIndex=
  5. Edit the file path so that it points to a valid location on disk. e.g. in the above example, the original line is:
    DirForUpdatesIndex=E:\Archive One\Repositories\Year_2007\IndexE:\Archive One\Repositories\Year_2007\Index\Updates
    This should be updated to:
    DirForUpdatesIndex=E:\Archive One\Repositories\Year_2007\Index\Updates
  6. Save the file.
Retest the retrieval to ensure that the issue is now resolved.
