Answer:

SYMPTOMS

When a user attempts to retrieve a message from the archive in Outlook via the Quick Link Client, the message fails to retrieve. The user is able to successfully retrieve the message using the URL link. In the Quick Link Client log file, you can see the error:

CMessage::Populate CMAPILargeProperty->AddToObject failed tag: 0x1000001f, hr: 0x80040605

ROOT CAUSE
This error is typically caused by having multiple versions of MAPI installed on the same machine, for instance both the Outlook client and the Exchange System Manager.

RESOLUTION
Microsoft do not support this type of environment: Link Microsoft does not support installing Exchange Server components and Outlook on the same computer.

The machine in question should be rebuilt and only the Outlook client installed. For further information see the MSDN blog: Exchange and Outlook On The Same Machine
