Barracuda ArchiveOne

How can a customer flush the queue of items pending mailbox archiving

  • Type: Knowledgebase
  • Date changed: 2 years ago

Solution #00007387

Scope:

ArchiveOne Enterprise, all versions

Answer:

OVERVIEW

In ArchiveOne v7 and later, the mailbox archiving queue is held in memory by the ArchiveOne Data Manager service (AOneItemListService.exe). You may be advised by Barracuda Technical Support to empty the archiving queue as part of the diagnostic process. Emptying the queue does not affect the original item in the mailbox in Exchange; the next time the policy runs the item will be loaded back into the queue for processing.

In previous versions of ArchiveOne (v6.6 and earlier), the Data Manager service held all queued data from mailbox archiving, journal archiving and PST processing. Emptying the queue in earlier versions of ArchiveOne will therefore flush all pending data for mailboxes, journal mailboxes and PSTs.

HOW TO STEPS

To flush the queue of messages for mailbox archiving:

In ArchiveOne v7 or later

1. On the Archive server, open the ArchiveOne admin console.

2. Right-click the 'Policies' node and select 'View Status...' and select the 'Mailboxes' tab.

3. If there are any policies running, click the 'Stop the current policies' or the 'Stop second phase' buttons.

4. Ensure both phases report 'Not running' before closing the Admin console and continuing.

Open the Microsoft Services console (services.msc).Right-click the 'ArchiveOne Data Manager Service' and select 'Properties'.

In the 'Startup Type' select 'Disabled' and click 'Apply'.

Click 'Stop' to stop the service and click 'OK'.

Browse to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Barracuda\Archive One\AOnePol_DataManager and delete the file 'DataManagerRestart.7.0.dat'.

Back in the Microsoft Services console, right-click the 'ArchiveOne Data Manager Service' and select 'Properties'.

In the 'Startup Type' select 'Manual' and click 'OK'.

It is not necessary to start the service manually; it will start running when required.

In ArchiveOne v6.6 or earlier

1. On the Archive server, open the ArchiveOne admin console.

2. Right-click the 'Policies' node and select 'View Status...'.
