How to perform an in-place upgrade of ArchiveOne Express

ArchiveOne Express, v6.5.1 – 6.6.0

Answer:

OVERVIEW

If you are upgrading ArchiveOne Enterprise (Express) from version 6.5.1 or later then you can perform an in-place upgrade. You do not need to uninstall the existing version first.

If you are not certain whether to perform an in-place upgrade or upgrade via uninstall/reinstall, then please contact your C2C Support representative for advice.

HOW TO STEPS

To upgrade ArchiveOne:

1. Run the installer for the new version of ArchiveOne on the Archive server. Right-click the installer and select 'Run as administrator'.

1. You will be warned that if you have customized the installation, you will need to reapply these customizations. Click 'OK' to proceed.

1. Click 'Next' to start the installation.

1. On the License Agreement step, read the Licence Agreement and select 'I agree' if you accept the licence terms. Click 'Next' to continue.

1. On the Customer Information step, enter the User name and Organization if desired and click 'Next' to continue.

1. On the Custom Setup step, select the required components for installation. By default, all components will be installed.

1. ArchiveOne Service – This will be installed on the Archive server, and cannot be installed on any other machine.

2. ArchiveOne Admin – This will be installed on the Archive server, and can optionally be installed on other machine.

3. Index Optimizer – This will be installed on the Archive server, and can optionally be installed on other machine.

4. Search and Retrieval website – This will be installed on the Archive server, and can optionally also be installed on another server (eg, Front End Server) to allow internal & external archive access.

5. Client Installers – This will be installed on the Archive server, and does not need to be installed anywhere else.

6. PST Client – This will be installed on the Archive server, and does not need to be installed anywhere else.The default installation location is 'C:Program Files (x86)C2C SystemsArchive One'. Click the 'Change…' button to modify the installation location if required and click 'Next' to proceed.Click 'Install' to begin the installation.

1. Click 'Finish' to complete the installer.

1. If you have customized the original installation, you will now need to reapply your customizations.

2. If the Search & Retrieval websites are installed on a separate Web server and not on the Archive server, each Web server will need to be upgraded:

1. Right-click the installer and select 'Run as administrator'.

2. You will be prompted that ArchiveOne will be upgraded if you continue. Click 'Yes' to proceed.

3. You will be warned that if you have customized the installation, you will need to reapply these customizations. Click ‘OK’ to proceed.

4. Click 'Next' to start the installation.

5. Click 'Finish' to complete the installer.

6. If you have customized the original installation, you will now need to reapply your customizations.Once the archive server and any Web servers have been upgraded, you will need to upgrade the Quick Link Client and 
Laptop Clients where deployed.

1. The new version of the client MSIs are available in the installation directory on the Archive server (by default, ‘C:Program Files (x86)C2C SystemsArchive One’)

Once the upgrade has been completed, you should test the system functionality to ensure users can retrieve messages from the archive and policies run successfully.
