Solution #00007481
Scope:
ArchiveOne Enterprise, all versions
Answer:
SYMPTOMS
I have run a policy with a rule to delete messages over 'X' number of days old. However, after the policy has run there are messages that match the policy criteria still visible in the mailbox folder called Search Folders.
ROOT CAUSE
As per Microsoft's description (see http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/outlook-help/about-search-folders-HP007328474.aspx for further information):
Search Folders are virtual folders that contain views of all e-mail items matching specific search criteria. Search Folders display the results of previously defined search queries, however the email messages that are shown in the Search Folders remain stored in one or more Outlook folders.
RESOLUTION
ArchiveOne Enterprise will ignore Search Folders for processing by default as they are query-based folders merely holding pointers to the original message. Once the Search Folders are synchronized, these pointers to the deleted messages will be removed.
