PRB: When in Exchange cached mode I cannot see the A icon indicator?

  • Type: Knowledgebase

Solution#00007489

Scope:

ArchiveOne Enterprise, Laptop and Quicklink client

Answer:

SYMPTOMS

When operating Outlook in "cached mode" the icon for archived emails is the standard Microsoft envelope icon, not the C2C open envelope with the "A" symbol.

ROOT CAUSE

The C2C email icon for archived email is produced when the C2C message link form is applied to an email. In cached mode this C2C custom form may not have been synchronised.

WORKAROUND

There are a number of tests to follow, presented here in order of ascending complexity. Please try them all in the order presented one test at a time:

Test 1:

1. Drop out of cached mode

2. Ensure the forms are present

3. Ensure that the send/receive groups option is enable

4. Ensure that the send/receive group has the option to “Synchronize Forms” checked

5. Perform a manual synchronisation (using the “Send/Receive All” option in Outlook)

6. Return to cached mode

Test 2:

1. Drop out of cached mode

2. Ensure the forms are present

3. Go to the “Manage Forms” screen

4. Set the size of the forms cache to 4096 (it can go up to 9999)

5. Return to cached mode

6. Drop out of cached mode

Test 3:

1. Ensure the forms are present

2. Go to the “Manage Forms” screen

3. Hit the “Clear Cache” button (note: this will reset the size of the forms cache)

4. Return to cached mode

Test 4:

1. Drop out of cached mode

2. Ensure the forms are present

3. Locate the file called “frmcache.dat” on the C: drive

4. Delete this file

5. Return to cached mode

Test 5:

1. Drop out of cached mode

2. Ensure the forms are present

3. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\FORMS OR C:\Users\user_name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FORMS

4. Delete the contents of this folder (notably the “ipm.note.arch2” folder)

5. Return to cached mode

Test 6:

1. Open the registry

2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook (for Outlook 2010)

3. Add a DWORD called “ForceFormReload”

4. Give this DWORD a value of “1”

5. Close the registry

6. Drop out of cached mode

7. Ensure the forms are present

8. Return to cached mode
