How to configure OWA retrievals for mixed version Exchange environments

Solution #00007541

ArchiveOne Enterprise, v6.0 or later

During a migration from one version of Exchange to another, the retrieval through OWA may fail if the user's version of Exchange does not match the OWA defined in the ArchiveOne configuration. For example in a mixed Exchange 2003/Exchange 2010 environment, you may be running a legacy version of OWA for Exchange 2003 mailboxes, whilst also running Exchange 2010 OWA for migrated mailboxes. The website address for the legacy Exchange 2003 OWA website is different to the address for the Exchange 2010 OWA website. In the ArchiveOne System Configuration Wizard, the OWA retrievals setting only permits you to configure a backup address for OWA.

You should set the OWA address to use for the later version of Exchange in the System Configuration Wizard. You should manually modify the configuration files to specify an alternative address for other versions of OWA.

1. Browse to: '\\Configuration_Servername\Add-ins\AOnePol'.

where Configuration_Servername is the name of the Configuration Server.

2. Open the AOneConfig.C2C file in Notepad.

3. At the bottom of the file, add the line for Exchange 2003 OWA address:

where <address> is website address to use for OWA for Exchange 2003 mailboxes.

4. At the bottom of the file, add the line for Exchange 2007 OWA address:

OwaServer2007 =<address>

where <address> is website address to use for OWA for Exchange 2007 mailboxes.

N.B. In v6.6 or later, this setting will not be applied as Exchange Autodiscover will be queried to determine the correct OWA URL to use.

5. Save and close the file.

6. From the Microsoft Services console (services.msc), restart the 'Archive One Service'.

Now retest archived message retrievals via OWA for mailboxes on each version of Exchange.
