Setting Exchange permissions fails during ArchiveOne installation

Solution # 00007604

Scope:Setting Exchange permissions fails during ArchiveOne installation

Answer:

During the ArchiveOne installation you see the error message:

“The setting of a required Exchange permission has failed. Setup was unable to use Powershell to set the required Exchange permissions. When this installation has completed consult the manual for the required settings and ensure that they have been applied using the Exchange management Console.”

This can occur if the user running the installation has insufficient privileges to make these changes.

To set permissions manually for each Administrative Group (objects with the class ‘msExchAdminGroup’), run the following cmdlet in Exchange Management Shell:

Add-ADPermission -Identity <AdminGroup> -User <ArchiveOneServiceAccount> -AccessRights ReadProperty,GenericExecute,ExtendedRight -ExtendedRights Receive-As, ms-Exch-Store-Visible, ms-Exch-Store-Admin -InheritanceType All

Where <AdminGroup> is the Administrative Group name e.g. “Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)” and <ArchiveOneServiceAccount> is the ArchiveOne Service account name e.g. “ArchiveOneAdmin”
