Barracuda Backup

How to Download or Destroy a Virtual Machine from Cloud LiveBoot

  • Last updated on

This article refers to the Barracuda Backup firmware version 6.3.04 and higher, and supported versions of VMWare and Microsoft Hyper-V.

Cloud LiveBoot is available to all Barracuda Backup customers with Instant Replacement and a Cloud storage subscription, and is available to all customers excluding those in Japan.

Barracuda Cloud LiveBoot supports a maximum of four virtual disks per guest virtual machine.

Once you are done using your virtual machines (VMs) you can download the VM, and then delete (destroy) the VM from Cloud LiveBoot:

  • Hyper-V downloads as a fixed VHD disk
  • VMware downloads as a VMDK file

Download a Virtual Machine

  1. Log in to the VM and stop the virtual guest machine.
  2. Log in to Barracuda Backup.
  3. Go to Restore > Cloud LiveBoot, and click Download in the Actions column for the associated VM.
  4. Save the file to your local system.

Destroy a Virtual Machine

You can permanently delete all changes made since the VM was started using the following steps:

  1. Log in to Barracuda Backup.
  2. Go to Restore > Cloud LiveBoot, and click Destroy in the Actions column for the associated VM.
  3. In the confirmation dialog box, click Destroy.
