The Barracuda Backup Vx is a pre-configured, software-based virtual appliance that provides comparable functionality to the Barracuda Backup physical appliance:
- The Barracuda Backup Vx allows customers to deploy the Barracuda Backup product on their own infrastructure using their own storage;
- The Barracuda Backup Vx is licensed per CPU socket or physical server as an annual subscription with no upfront hardware costs;
- The Barracuda Backup Vx helps fully virtualized customers more effectively use and deploy Barracuda Backup to protect their virtual environment without deploying a physical appliance.
- The Barracuda Backup Vx includes encryption of data at-rest by default and is enabled automatically. Data is encrypted by a uniquely generated key. The key is protected by an encrypted master key which is further protected by the hardware-dependent boot process.
