About Recovery

  • Last updated on

All recovery actions within Barracuda Backup happen on the Restore tab of the Barracuda Backup web interface. The Restore Browser is used to perform all recovery actions other than instant VMware virtual machine (VM) recovery (LiveBoot) and cloud recovery for VMware and Hyper-V VMs (Cloud LiveBoot). The Restore Browser can also be accessed from the local interface using the Barracuda Backup device IP address. In some cases, the local interface can be a better option for data recovery over the web interface as communication is direct with the Barracuda Backup device as opposed to communicating via the cloud, down to the Barracuda Backup device, and back to your browser. Follow are two recovery actions where using the local interface for recovery may be preferable:

  • File and folder downloads
  • VMware and Hyper-V VM browsing and file download (LiveBrowse)

Within the Restore Browser, you can browse all the configured data sources, change the date that you are currently viewing, and search for files and folders. If the currently selected device is acting as a receiver for another Barracuda Backup device, you can also browse and perform recovery of those data sources.
