Barracuda Networks recommends ensuring the latest hotfixes, patches, and updates are installed on your data sources.

Barracuda Backup follows the lifecycle policy of each supported vendor and does not support versions that are end of life or end of support as indicated by the product vendor.

Barracuda Backup Agent

The servers you plan to protect using the Barracuda Backup Agent should meet the minimum system requirements in the following table.

  • Memory: 2 GB RAM (dedicated, not shared with other applications)
  • Disk Space: 2 GB with an additional 1 GB for every 1 million files protected (Windows Shadow Copy Storage area should be set to unlimited.)
  • Network: 1 Gbps or faster

Network File System Protocols

Barracuda Backup uses the following protocols to protect data stored on NAS devices, Linux/Unix devices, Mac OS X, or any other devices that the Barracuda Backup Agent does not support or cannot operate on:

  • Common Internet File System (CIFS)
  • Server Message Block (SMB)
  • SSH File System (SSHFS)
