Solution #00004648

Applies to Barracuda Backup Service, firmware version 3.x and above, Barracuda Backup Agent 8.8.x and above.

To backup Active/Active clustered Microsoft Exchange servers using the Barracuda Backup service, install the Barracuda Backup Agent on one of the active Exchange nodes.

To backup Active/Passive clustered Microsoft Exchange servers using the Barracuda Backup service, follow the directions below.

  1. Install the Barracuda Backup Agent on each of the servers in the cluster.
  2. On each of the servers, stop the Barracuda Backup Agent and add the following line to the end of the bbconfig.ini file (where exchangeclustername is the name of the actual cluster):

    [Exchange Server]

    [Windows Agent Manager.Microsoft Exchange Replication]

  3. Save and then restart the Backup Agent.
  4. In the Control Panel for the Barracuda Backup Service, a source must be created for just the Clustername (say with just the database selected. No File Systems or System State can be enabled here.
If File Systems and System State are desired to be backed up on the nodes themselves, they must be added as Data Sources with the File Systems and System State selected and the Exchange option disabled. (Example: node #1 and node #2

Additional Notes:

Circular Logging will need to be disabled on each storage group being backed up.
