Barracuda Backup

Why are my backups failing with an error of “Could not mount share”?

  • Type: Knowledgebase
  • Date changed: 7 years ago

Solution #00004837

Scope:

Applies to Barracuda Backup Service.

Answer:

If your backups on the Barracuda Backup Service are failing and you are receiving the error “Could not mount share” check to see if you have configured the share you are attempting to backup with a hostname. You may need to change this to an IP address or Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN). There are often problems in DNS resolution that will cause this error and it is simpler to avoid the DNS lookup by using an IP address.

This is one of the more common reasons for this error. Please contact Barracuda Networks Technical Support if this does not resolve the issue.
