Barracuda Backup

How can I fix SMB / File Share login or file permissions issues reported by my Barracuda Backup Server?

  • Type: Knowledgebase

Solution #00005784

Scope:
This solution applies to the Barracuda Backup Server, all firmware versions.

Answer:
When configuring the data source on a Barracuda Backup Server, the username can be entered in one of two ways.

The username can be part of the users group or Domain Admins Group. It is often the case that the same username is listed in both groups; however, they have very different permission levels. To remedy the login and file permission issues that may be associated with only configuring a username that is part of the users group, you may enter the username the following way:

Username: domain\username

Example:

barracuda\backupusername

By putting the domain in front of the username, you are logging with Domain Admins Group permissions instead of just user permissions.
