Scope:
This solution applies to the Barracuda Backup Server, firmware version 4.1 and higher.
Answer:
The Barracuda Backup Server can be configured to exclude sets of data from being backed up through the use of exclusion rules. You can configure exclusion rules using the BACKUP > Exclusions page in the Barracuda Backup Control panel.
Exclusion rules use expressions to identify what files or folders in a directory should be excluded from the backup.
- Expressions can match directory or file names and are not case-sensitive.
- Expressions may contain the wildcard character * to match multiple items or ? to match zero or one character.
- For example, to exclude all MP3 files (with suffix mp3 or MP3), add the expression *.mp3 to an exclusion rule. There is no limit to the number of expressions that can be added to a rule.
By default, exclusion rules are applied recursively to sub-directories of the parent directory(s) selected in the Where to Exclude section of the exclusion rule. Uncheck the Apply Recursively to Sub Directories option if you want the exclusion rule to apply only to the selected directories and not their sub-directories.
