Why has the Barracuda Backup Agent database been moved to another storage volume?

  • Type: Knowledgebase
  • Date changed: 3 years ago
Solution #00005641

This solution applies to all Barracuda Backup Servers, firmware version 3.2 and higher.

The Barracuda Backup Agent requires at least 1GB of free disk space on a data source for its database. If less than the required amount of disk space is available, the database will automatically be moved to another storage volume.

While backups will still run, a warning will be displayed in the Barracuda Backup Control Panel stating that the database has been moved. To mitigate this issue, the Barracuda Backup Agent should be installed to an alternate storage volume that has at least 1GB of free disk space. Previous versions of the Barracuda Backup Agent installer did not give the option to choose an installation path. With version 3.2+ of the Barracuda Backup Agent, the installation path can be set to an alternate volume.

To install the Barracuda Backup Agent to another storage volume, the following steps are recommended.
  1. Completely uninstall the Barracuda Backup Agent with Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features.
  2. Log in to the Barracuda Backup Control Panel, and navigate to the System > Software Downloads page.
  3. Download the latest Barracuda Backup Agent installation executable.
  4. During installation, select an installation path on a storage volume with at least 1GB of free space.
After the next successful backup, the warning will no longer be displayed.
