How to Perform a Network Activation via CLI

When adding or making changes to a network or IP address, the network subsystem must be restarted in order to activate the new configuration. Depending on your changes, you may need to restart only a certain part of the network subsystem, which can be done in the user interface of Firewall Admin. In certain situations, however, this activation must be executed in a Command Line Interface (CLI).

Perform a Soft Activation via CLI in Firewall Admin

This example assumes that you are already logged into Firewall Admin.

  1. Go to CONFIGURATION > SSH.
  2. Log into SSH as user root.
  3. Enter the following command into the CLI: softactivate

If you do not have access to the user interface of Firewall Admin, connect via a remote SSH tool from another computer as user root.

  • Enter the following command into the CLI: softactivate

Perform a Force Activation via CLI in Firewall Admin

This example assumes that you are already logged into Firewall Admin.

  1. Go to CONFIGURATION > SSH.
  2. Log into SSH as user root.
  3. Enter the following command into the CLI: activate
