Barracuda NG Firewall Remote

  • Last updated on

The Barracuda NG Firewall Remote application for Apple iOS provides Barracuda NG Firewall system administrators easy remote access to their Barracuda NG Firewalls and Barracuda NG Control Centers from any place at any time.

With the Barracuda NG Firewall Remote application you can:

  • Connect via VPN to a Barracuda Networks demo environment to try/test the application.
  • Create a connection to one or more Barracuda NG Firewall units via a Barracuda NG Control Center.
  • View a Barracuda NG Admin style status map for NG Control Centers and NG Firewalls.
  • View general details for a unit (including uptime, license state, activation state, firmware version, and model and serial number).
  • View the status of a unit (including server/service control, CPU load, system, network control, events, and licenses).
  • View graphics for Box resource usage by memory, data disk usage, and system disk usage.
  • View dynamic graphs for allowed sessions, blocked sessions, and bit/sec throughput.
  • Perform a unit reboot, services restart, network reconnect, and management tunnel rebuild as remote actions.
  • Use full Terminal Access (SSH).
  • Enable and disable dynamic firewall rules (for example, to provide a team with temporary access to a blocked web application).

Requirements

Units managed via the Barracuda NG Firewall Remote app must run firmware version 6.0.1 or later. To use Barracuda NG Firewall Remote application to connect to your Barracuda NG Control Center or Barracuda NG Firewalls, you need to have direct network access to the management network of your units. If your mobile device is not directly connected to the management network of your units, Barracuda recommends to use Client-to-Site VPN to establish a secure connection to the management network. For more information on how to configure a VPN connection on your Apple iOS device, see How to Configure Apple iOS Devices for Client-to-Site VPN Connections

Basic Setup

In the basic setup of the NG Remote application, you can add a single Barracuda NG Firewall or Barracuda NG Control Center. For evaluation, you can also add a demo NG Control Center and NG Firewall provided by Barracuda Networks. When adding the demo units, the NG Remote app will automatically set up a VPN connection profile to Barracuda Networks on your iOS device. After installing the Barracuda NG Firewall Remote app, you are prompted to set up a password to secure the data provided to the app and restrict app usage.
