How to Configure System Access for the Service User

  • Last updated on

In some cases, you need to provide console access to an unprivileged administrator. The service user is disabled by default, as long as the license is valid or within the grace period. The service user is displayed as user phion when logged in.

Configure system access for the service user

Enable and set a password for the service user.

  1. Go to CONFIGURATION > Configuration Tree > Box > Administrative Settings.
  2. In the left menu, click System Access.
  3. From the Configuration Mode menu, select Switch to Advanced View.
  4. Click Lock.
  5. In the Service Password section, enter the password for the service user.

  6. Uncheck the Disable Service User checkbox.

As long as the service user is enabled, it is possible to log into the console of your Barracuda NextGen Firewall F-Series with the following credentials: phion / service user password.

  7. Click Send Changes and Activate.
