Barracuda CloudGen Firewall

Why isn't my DC Agent syncing users to my Barracuda Firewall?

Solution# 00006852

Scope:

All Barracuda X series firewalls using the DC agent for single sign-on.

Answer:

If you have set up a DC agent on your Active Directory domain controller to sync users to your firewall, and you are not seeing any users being synced, it is possible that your domain controller is not set to audit successful log on events. The DC agent must see successful audits of user log on events in order to sync with the firewall. In order to verify that that the domain controller is set to audit log on events, please check the following settings on your domain controller (the location of these settings varies depending on what version of Windows Server you are running):

For Server 2003:
-Navigate to START>PROGRAMS>ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS
-Select DOMAIN CONTROLLER SECURITY POLICY
-Click on LOCAL POLICIES, then AUDIT POLICIES
-Make sure that AUDIT ACCOUNT LOGON EVENTS and AUDIT LOGON EVENTS are both set to "Success".
-Once these events are set to "Success", any new logon events will trigger a user sync with the Barracuda. Please be patient as it may take some time to populate the firewall with these users.

For Server 2008:
-Navigate to START>ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS>LOCAL SECURITY POLICY
-Click on LOCAL POLICIES, then click on AUDIT POLICIES
-Check to make sure AUDIT ACCOUNT LOGON EVENTS and AUDIT LOGON EVENTS are both set to "Success"
-Once these have been turned on, any new logon events will sync with the Barracuda.

For Server 2012
-Open the SERVER MANAGER
-Click on TOOLS, then click on LOCAL SECURITY POLICY
-Check to make sure AUDIT ACCOUNT LOGON EVENTS and AUDIT LOGON EVENTS are both set to "Success".
-Once these events have been turned on, any new logon events will sync with the Barracuda
