Why is my IMail LDAP not allowing my Barracuda Spam Firewall to stay connected?

Scope:
Applies to all Barracuda Spam Firewalls using IMail LDAP for recipient verification.

Answer:
If IMail is not allowing the Barracuda to connect or stay connected, verify these settings in IMail:
  • The IP Address of the Barracuda should not be in the Access Control list of SMTP
  • Auto deny hack attempts should be unchecked
  • The IP Address of the Barracuda should be in the SMTP Whitelist
You must restart the SMTP service after making these changes. For LDAP verification to work, you must enable LDAP on the IMail server. IMail uses an Open Source LDAP implementation.
