Why won't the Red and Green envelopes display in my Microsoft Outlook after installing the plugin from my Barracuda Spam Firewall?

Scope:
All Barracuda Spam Firewalls, all firmware versions, Outlook Plugin versions 1 and 2.

Answer:
There are three possible reasons for this.
  1. The toolbar might not be set to display the envelopes. To remedy this, right click on any empty portion of the Outlook toolbar. A toolbar menu should appear that reads Standard, Advanced, Web, and Barracuda Networks. If Barracuda Networks appears in the list but is not checked, check the Barracuda Networks option. The buttons should then show up. If the Barracuda Networks option does not appear, it may need to be enabled. 
  2. If the toolbar is not active after an installation, follow these steps to activate it. For Outlook 2003, navigate to Outlook > Tools > Options > Other > Advanced Options > COM Add-Ins. Make sure the Barracuda Networks Add-In option is checked, then click OK. For Outlook 2007, go to Outlook > Tools > Trust Center > Add-ins. Set the Manage drop-down menu to Com Add-ins and click Go.... Make sure the Barracuda Networks Add-In option is checked, and then click OK. If you don't see the Barracuda Networks Add-In option listed on the Outlook > Tools > Options > Other > Advanced Options > COM Add-Ins page, you can manually add it by clicking the Add button on the COM Add-Ins page, browsing to the folder where the plugin is located (usually C:\Program Files\Barracuda\), and adding it.
  3. Separately, the plugin could be installed but disabled. For Outlook 2003, navigate to Outlook > Help > About Microsoft Outlook > Disabled Items. If you see the Barracuda Networks Plug-in, select it and click Enable.  For Outlook 2007, navigate to Outlook > Tools > Trust Center > Add-ins. Set the Manage drop-down menu to Disabled Items and click Go.... Select the Barracuda Networks Add-In, and then click Enable.
If these do not work, please try shutting down Outlook and uninstalling the plugin. After the successfull uninstall, reinstall the plugin. If the problem persists, please contact Barracuda Networks Technical Support.
