Applies to all Barracuda Spam & Virus Firewalls on firmware version 3.3 and above.
One potential cause for this may be an incorrect system IP Address on the Basic > IP Configuration page. Make sure the IP address is in standard octet form. If the address is listed with preceding zeros for each octet it will cause the message log not to display.
