  • Type: Knowledgebase
  • Date changed: one year ago
Solution #00003002

Scope:
Applies to all supported Email Security Gateways with active Energize Updates subscriptions.

Answer:
Yes. On January 8, 2008, salesforce.com issued a special notification to all of its customers regarding a specific malware threat masquerading as part of its Identity Confirmation feature. This particular email contained a known virus currently profiled and blocked by the Email Security Gateway. On January 8, 2008, the virus name was BN.ZeroHour-67814.

On this same day, Barracuda Networks also implemented specific rules to block the social engineering of this email. As such, even if different virus variants are used with the same form of enticement to download, the Email Security Gateway will block these future variants using its rules scoring engine.
