Barracuda Email Security Gateway

Do I need to enter a Canary Email when configuring LDAP/Active Directory verification on my Barracuda Spam Firewall? Why?

Solution #00003570

Scope:
All Barracuda Spam Firewalls, all firmware versions.

Answer:
The email address entered into the Canary Email field on the Domains > Edit Domain page is the email address used to determine if LDAP lookups are properly locating valid and invalid email addresses for that particular domain during the normal operation of the Barracuda Spam Firewall. If at anytime the provided Canary address is not found in the LDAP directory or if the LDAP server is offline, then mail for any user in a registered domain is deferred.
