Applies to all Barracuda Spam Firewalls, all firmware versions.
The Quarantine Type determines if the Barracuda Spam Firewall delivers a quarantined message to the global quarantine delivery address, or to a user’s quarantine inbox. When a message is received that needs to be quarantined, and the quarantine type is set to Per-User, the Barracuda Spam Firewall checks the email address against its database, creates a new account if required, and delivers the message to the recipients quarantine inbox.
The Link Domains feature allows you to control whether users on different domains, protected by your Barracuda Spam Firewall, share the same per-user preferences and quarantine inbox. For example, email@example.com, firstname.lastname@example.org, and email@example.com will all share the same preferences and quarantine inbox. Note the following about this feature:
- Link Domains is a global setting which applies to all users in your domain – it can not be activated for specific domains or users.
- Link Domains does not work for email aliases in the same domain. For example, firstname.lastname@example.org cannot be linked to email@example.com.
The Quarantine Type and Link Domain settings are configured in the BASIC > Quarantine tab of the Barracuda Spam Firewall web interface. Barracuda Spam Firewall models 400, 600, and 800 allow you to set the quarantine type on a per-domain basis. Note that setting values on a per-domain basis overrides the values configured elsewhere in the administration interface.
