Why do messages that I classify as "Spam" still come back? Aren't they blocked?

  • Type: Knowledgebase
  • Date changed: 4 years ago

Solution #00004112

Scope:

All Barracuda Spam Firewall models, all firmware versions.

Answer:

Messages classified as "Spam" are not automatically blocked or blacklisted by the Barracuda. The Barracuda will perform the following actions when you mark a message as spam.

1. Messages classified as "Spam" are sent to Barracuda Networks' engineering teams. Our engineers examine the messages in detail and improve the Spam Definitions which are pushed out to your Barracuda Spam Firewall via Energize Updates.

2. Classifying messages as Spam trains the unit's Bayesian Database. Please refer to Solution #00001324 for further details.
