Barracuda Email Security Gateway

Why can't I find the 'encrypt' option when I install the Outlook Add-in from my Barracuda Spam Firewall on Outlook 2003?

Solution #00005781

Scope:
This solution applies to the Barracuda Spam Firewall, firmware version 5.1 and higher.

Answer:
To use the encryption functionality of the Outlook add-in with Outlook 2003, we need to disable using Microsoft Word as the default editor. If Word is the default editor for Outlook 2003, the encryption button will not appear on the toolbar. Word can be removed as the default editor with the following steps:

1. From Outlook 2003, navigate to the Tools menu, then click Options and then click the Mail Format Tab.
2. Clear the check box next to Use Microsoft Word to edit e-mail messages .

The encrypt functionality of the Spam Firewall will now be available via the encrypt button when sending a new email message.
