Scope:
Barracuda Spam & Virus Firewalls purchased prior to September 30th, 2009.

Answer:

In an ongoing effort to provide high quality products and services, Barracuda Networks will be ending support of older models of the Barracuda Spam & Virus Firewall running firmware releases 5.1 and earlier.

Customers who purchased Barracuda Spam & Virus Firewall units prior to September 30th, 2009 and who have not replaced their original units should contact the Barracuda Networks Technical Support Team to determine if their units must be replaced to ensure compatibility with ongoing firmware releases.


All customers who own older units are encouraged to take advantage of the Hardware Refresh program described at: https://www.barracudanetworks.com/support/refresh. Any prepaid remaining time period under an active support subscriptions may be applied toward replacement Barracuda Spam & Virus Firewall units running later firmware releases, as appropriate. Only account credits will be provided and no cash refunds will be given.


Customers who own older units will continue to be supported under the following terms:

  • Barracuda Networks will provide maintenance fixes to correct defects for Barracuda Spam & Virus Firewall firmware release 5.1 to existing customers with active Energize Updates subscriptions until September 30th, 2013. No new features or enhancements will be made for legacy firmware versions (version 5.1 or earlier).

  • After October 1st, 2014 Barracuda Networks reserves the right to no longer provide definition updates for older units per our EOL policy listed above. Barracuda Networks will continue to provide ongoing telephone technical support to existing customers with an active Energize Update subscription.

  • Barracuda Networks will continue to provide replacements of defective units under the terms of the Instant Replacement subscriptions and hardware warranties through the end of the warranty or subscription period. The replacement units will ship with the current manufacturing firmware release and operating system platform at time of shipment.

Note: The above information does not apply to Japan, the Barracuda Spam Firewall Plus Program takes precedence over this solution for Japan.
