Scope:
Barracuda Spam Firewall

Answer:

YES - as long as the server anti-virus engine is not also protecting the Exchange mail services

You can have a server anti-virus engine on the exchange server along with the Barracuda Exchange Anti-Virus add in.

You just can NOT have two Exchange anti-virus engines on the exchange server.

The barracuda AV add in only protects the mail and not the server so you still need a server AV engine.

If they have a server AV engine then they need to ensure that if it also protects the Exchange mail they turn that part off.

They also need to exempt from scanning the following

C:\Program Files\Barracuda

C:\Windows\Temp\BAR*.*

So that the server AV engine does not see the files the Barracuda add in creates when checking mail.
