Barracuda Link Balancer

How will my Barracuda Link Balancer provide failover in the event that one of my internet connections becomes unavailable?

Solution #00003677

All Barracuda Link Balancers, all firmware versions.

The Barracuda Link Balancer will provide continual Internet access for your network, as long as at least one Internet connection is functioning. Under normal circumstances links are selected based on usage and available bandwidth, but when a link fails, the Barracuda Link Balancer disregards that link and no longer directs any traffic to it until it becomes functional again.

When a link becomes unavailable, connections using that link will break and will not be transferred to alternate links (in other words, failover is not stateful). Each new connection, however, will be routed to one of the remaining available links. For example, if a user was downloading a file using the WAN1 link and the WAN1 link failed, the download would fail. But, if the user tried to download that same file again, the Barracuda Link Balancer would route the request to one of the remaining, functional links and the download would succeed.
