Barracuda Link Balancer

How can I use a link purely as a private link (Only for VPN connections or QoS) on the Barracuda Link Balancer?

  • Type: Knowledgebase
  • Date changed: 11 months ago
Solution #00004134

Scope:
All Barracuda Link Balancer models, firmware version 1.2 and above

Answer:
If you do not want all WAN interfaces to balance outbound connections, you can change this behavior using the Link Preferences table on the Services > Bandwidith Mgmt page. The supported link types are:
  • Primary links ? used first for outbound link balancing.
  • Backup links ? used only if the primary links are down or if they become saturated (80% of capacity).
  • Private links ? used exclusively for traffic that matches Quality of Service rules that specify those links or for Virtual Private Networks.
Additional Notes:
Private links are used exclusively for Quality of Service rules (QoS) or Virtual Private Networks (VPN).
QoS rules and VPNs may use any WAN links: they are not limited to Private links.
