Barracuda Link Balancer

Why isn't ICMP traffic routed to my LAN with the firewall enabled on my Barracuda Link Balancer?

  • Type: Knowledgebase
  • Date changed: 10 months ago
Solution #00004569

Scope:
All Barracuda Link Balancer models in use with all firmware versions.

Answer:
To allow ICMP traffic inside your network with the firewall Enabled on the Link Balancer, you will need to create an Inbound Firewall rule explicitly allowing ICMP traffic.

To allow ICMP traffic to be routed to your LAN, go to the FIREWALL > Inbound page, click on the Add New Firewall Rule button, and select ICMP from the protocol drop down menu. Complete instructions for adding a new Inbound Firewall rule can be found in Solution #00003689.

Additional Notes:
A rule created for ANY protocol will not include ICMP.
