To define advanced archive retention for an Intronis Backup policy from a new rule

  • Last updated on

For detailed information on created archive retention rules, see the Intronis Backup documentation.

  1. In Service Center, click Service Delivery > Policies > Intronis Backup.
  2. Click one of the following:
    1. Files and Folders
    2. Physical Imaging Standard
  3. Click the name of the policy you want to edit.
  4. Click the Settings tab.
  5. Click Modify.
  6. Click the Retention tab.
  7. If required, slide the Advanced Archiving slider to On.
  8. In Add New Rule, select one of the following options:
    1. Age—Keeps the minimum number of revisions you specify, in addition to all revisions backed up during the time period you specify.
    2. Versions—Keeps the number of revisions you specify.
    3. Disk Usage—Keeps revisions until the total size of all revisions reaches a limit. This rule is applied on a per-file basis; if you set a size limit of 100MB, each file is allowed 100MB of revisions.

Use this rule with caution. The potential size of files' revisions is hard to gauge and could end up taking more disk space than you expect.
    4. Date range—Keeps revisions based on a range of dates you select.

Use this rule with caution. It is not designed for data that needs to be retained long-term.
  9. Select your options.
  10. Click Save Rule.
  11. Repeat steps 8-10 until you have added all the rules you want.

    • To delete a rule or a component of a rule, click the red X button delete_var_admin.gif next to the item.
  12. Click Save.
