Barracuda RMM’s macOS patching policy lets you download and install patches for the macOS operating system on devices that run macOS 11.0 Big Sur and higher.
A macOS patching policy is a collection of settings and preferences that determine how patches and updates for the macOS operating system are installed on devices. A policy also includes manual or automatic application rules that determine which devices it is applied to.
Barracuda RMM includes a default macOS patching policy that you can use with or without modifications. You can also create as many customized macOS patching policies as you require.
Advanced Software Management is not required to use macOS patching. However, to patch applications that run on macOS, Advanced Software Management is required. See Advanced Software Management for macOS Devices.
Use macOS patching policies to:
- check for updates
- download new updates when available
- install macOS updates
- install important system data files and security updates
