If the standard ports are not used for your email and web communication, specify which ports are used. This is important to ensure that your emails and web browsing are monitored by Avast Business Antivirus.

For the Web, Avast Business Antivirus normally monitors only communication through port 80. If you use a proxy server to access the Internet, you must enter the port used to connect to the proxy server so that communications between the proxy server and your computer to be scanned. Only enter the ports for HTTP traffic, not for ICQ, DC++, etc. For Mail, the default ports are the standard port numbers for the four basic email protocols. If you use a different port (or ports) you must enter them here. Use commas to separate multiple port numbers in the list.

  1. Click Configuration > Policies > Avast Antivirus.
  2. Click the name of a policy.
  3. Click one of the following tabs:
    • Workstation Settings
    • Server Settings
  4. Click the Troubleshooting tab.
  5. Click Activate for any of the following check boxes:
    • Enable Rootkit Scan on System Startup
    • Enable Raw Disk Access during Avast Boot-time Scan
    • Skip Checking of Digital Signatures of Infected Files
    • Avast Self-Defense Module
    • Load Avast Services only after Loading Other System Services
    • Limit Program Access for Guest Account
    • Enable Hardware-Assisted Virtualization
  6. In the Web section, do any of the following:
    • Type ports in the HTTP port(s) box.
    • Type addresses in the Ignored addresses box.
    • Click the Ignore local communication check box.

When the Ignore local communication check box is clicked, Avast Business Antivirus does not scan internal system communication on your computer. When this box is cleared, all communication is scanned to increase security, but may slow down performance slightly.

  7. In the Mail section, do any of the following:
    • Type port numbers in any of the ports boxes.
Note: To add multiple ports, separate them with a comma.
    • Type a server address or port in the Ignored addresses box.
    • Click the Ignore local communication check box.
  8. Click Apply Changes.
