All Barracuda Message Archivers, all firmware versions.
If you use your mail server or mail clients to create PST backups and you wish
to import these files into the Barracuda Message Archiver, you may do so
easily. Navigate to the Mail Sources > PST Import page of the Barracuda Message
Archiver's web interface. Then, use the Browse button to specify the PST file
you would like to upload. Only specify a password if the PST file is password
protected. Lastly, enter the PST file's user in the PST Owner field, specifying
only the username portion of that user's email address (no @ or domain name
should be included).
When all of the information has been filled out correctly, click the Import
button and the file will begin to upload. If at any point you would like to
monitor the upload, click the Monitor PST Upload button.
When using the Barracuda Message Archiver's web interface to upload PST files,
you may encounter trouble if you try to upload PST files larger than 250MB. To
import these larger PST files, you should use the SMB upload feature as
Alternatively, as of firmware versions 1.2 and above, you can upload files to
the Barracuda Message Archiver over SMB. You configure this on the Basic >
Administration > PST Import Options page.
An SMB share can be made available for users to place PST files. These files
will need to be queued using the PST Import screen before they will be added to
the Barracuda Message Archiver. The share can be enabled for Anyone, for a
specific user (Pstdrop User) or disabled. If only a specific user is allowed,
the username will be pstdrop, and the password will be the password specified
To connect to the Barracuda Message Archiver after enabling the SMB share,
connect to \\\BarracudaMessageArchiverPstDrop. For example, if your Barracuda
Message Archiver's IP address is 192.168.1.10, you would connect to:
Where is the IP address of the Barracuda Message Archiver. Once connected,
just drag and drop PST files into the share.
After the Restrict Access to SMB Share option has been set to either Yes (Pstdrop
User) or No (Any User) on the Basic > Administration > PST Import Option page
and files have been copied onto the PST SMB share on the Barracuda Message
Archiver, you will be able to import these PST files on the Mail Sources > PST
Import page under the Pending PST Imports heading (if this option has not been
enabled on the Basic > Administration > PST Import Option page under the Enable
Local SMB Share heading, the Pending PST Imports heading will not appear on the
Mail Sources > PST Import page). If any PST files are awaiting import, you can
enter the password for each (if required) and import them.
Please take care to wait until they have been completely copied onto the
Barracuda Message Archiver's PST SMB share before attempting to import them.
After they have been imported, the Barracuda Message Archiver will remove them.
As of firmware verisons 1.2 and above, if the option Allow .PST File Uploads
has been enabled on the Basic > Administration > PST Import Options page, users
will be able to upload and import their own PST files, as well as import any
PST files that have been uploaded to the Barracuda Message Archiver's PST SMB
share (if this option has not been enabled on the Basic > Administration >PST
Import Options page under the Allow .PST File Uploads heading, the Recent PST
Imports and Pending PST Imports heading will not appear on any user's Mail
Sources > PST Import page).
Note: Only the Admin account can assign a PST, and only one user can have the PST folder data assigned to them at any point in time.
