How can I use the Barracuda Message Archiver to archive emails for only some users?

Solution #00003182

Scope:
All Barracuda Message Archivers, all firmware versions.

Answer:
It depends on your mail server. Basically, you will need to create a POP3 or IMAP account on your mail server and then only journal the emails you wish to archive to that account.

In Microsoft Exchange 2003, this can be done by moving the users for which archiving is required into a separate storage group. In Exchange 2003, journaling can be enabled or disabled per storage group. This way, only required user emails (incoming / outgoing and internal) will be stored in the journaling mailbox, and thus archived in Barracuda Message Archiver.

For Exchange 2007, journaling can be turned on or off on a per user basis.

For other email servers, the solution is specific to your email server. Please consult the vendor of your email server.
