How can I set Search options for different user roles in my Barracuda Message Archiver?

Solution #00004881

Scope:

Applies to Barracuda Message Archivers, firmware version 2.2 and above.

Answer:

On Barracuda Message Archiver firmware version 2.2 and above, an admin can specify Search settings for each role. These options can be set on the Basic > Administration page under Search Page Settings. The three roles you can set these options for are Admin, Auditor and User. The following options can be set for each:

Show All Available Messages ? Whether to display by default all available messages when bringing up the BASIC > Search page. Loading all available messages can take a significant amount of time, so disabling this setting allows faster access to entering and executing search commands. This option does not affect the behavior of a Saved Search that is launched from the POLICY > Saved Searches page.

Searches Include External Storage ? Whether searches should also go through messages stored on external storage volumes. For performance reasons, the Barracuda Message Archiver will by default only search through messages stored on the local internal storage. If you are attempting a discovery search, where you need to locate messages from all sources regardless of when they were sent, you should enable this option to allow the Barracuda Message Archiver to also search through all messages stored on all external storage drives.
Warning: Including external storage in your searches can significantly reduce the response time of the Barracuda Message Archiver.

Preserve Journal Wrapper ? Whether to include all headers (including the BCC header) and other journaling-related information, when forwarding or exporting messages pulled from Microsoft Exchange journal accounts. These wrappers are generally not included when exporting or forwarding messages, but in some cases it may be desirable to keep this additional information.
Note: This feature is not applicable to the user role.

"Export All" Allowed ? Enable the "Export All" messages option in the Tools button of the Search page for the selected role.

"Export Selected" Allowed ? Enable the "Export Selected" messages option in the Tools button of the Search page for the selected role.

"Forward All" Allowed ? Enable the "Forward All" messages option in the Tools button of the Search page for the selected role.

"Forward Selected" Allowed ? Enable the "Forward Selected" messages option in the Tools button of the Search page for the selected role.
