Identity Service

Barracuda SecureEdge is now introducing a new feature called Identity Service. Identity Service is a cloud-based service for identity and user/group management. You can manage and configure your identity providers and user/group directories via Barracuda SecureEdge Manager. With the enhanced Identity Service, you can control your identities and keep your security policies consistent across selected workspaces.


Architecture Overview

SecureEdge Identity Service relies on Auth0, a cloud-based identity platform that provides a wide range of authentication and authorization services for your users. Auth0 is used for end-user authentication. The Auth0 Organizations feature allows you to limit the enrollment process to use only the identity providers that have been configured for that workspace. With SecureEdge Identity Service, you can implement secure access to enterprise resources, whether they are on-premises or in the cloud, with a quick and easy configuration process.

Note that if you select either Barracuda Cloud Control or Email as your identity provider, the identity service will automatically redirect to your selected identity provider when your enrolled user logs in. In this case, no configuration steps are required. However, for any other identity provider you select, you must complete all of the configuration steps.

Use Cases

With SecureEdge Identity Service, you can do the following:

  • Manage and configure your identity providers and user directories

  • Enable the option to enroll users or groups to the SecureEdge Access solution, which creates secure remote access to internal and external enterprise resources, whether on-premises or in the cloud

  • Implement policies to protect resources according to criticality level

  • Keep identity providers and user directories in sync across identity provider resources

  • Enable comprehensive governance across users/groups
