Barracuda Web Application Firewall

Centralized Management of the Barracuda Web Application Firewall

  • Last updated on

You can deploy multiple Barracuda WAF instances in your organizations network and manage the instances from a centralized management system. Following are the two ways to centrally manage Barracuda WAF instances:

  • Using the Barracuda Cloud Control (BCC) - Barracuda Cloud Control is a cross product cloud service. The Barracuda Cloud Control provides support for connecting multiple Barracuda Networks products centrally and also provides a single interface to connect to one or more instances. The service is useful if the organization has multiple Barracuda Networks products including the Barracuda WAF and needs a generic centralized management service for all their Barracuda Networks products. For more information, see Connecting the Barracuda Web Application Firewall to the Barracuda Cloud Control.

The 'Barracuda Cloud Control' option to connect the WAF(s) for centralized management will be deprecated soon. Contact Barracuda Networks Technical Support if you want to migrate to the WAF Control Center.

  • Using the Barracuda WAF Control Center (WCC) - The Barracuda WAF Control Center is a virtual machine-based solution that is focused on providing centralized management capabilities for the Barracuda WAFs. It is recommended that you use the Barracuda WAF Control Center to centrally manage multiple deployments of Barracuda WAFs. The Barracuda WAF Control Center provides more capabilities that are focused on the Barracuda WAF product line.

The Barracuda WAF Control Center provides features such as:

  • Accessing One or More Barracuda WAF Instances from a Single Management Interface - Provides an aggregated view as well as a proxied view for an individual instance.
  • Centralized Certificate Management - Provides an aggregated view of the certificates deployed on one or more WAF instances. These certificates are bound to the virtual services on the connected WAF instances.
  • Centralized Alerting and Notification Mechanism - WCC account admins can be alerted on events.
  • Centralized Policy Tuning - One or more WAF instances can be associated to a security policy that can be managed from the WCC. Changes made to the security policy can be propagated to the connected WAF instances.
  • Template Management - Configuration snippets can be created centrally on the WCC and deployed on one or more connected WAF instances.
  • Node Inventory -  A centralized inventory view of all the connected WAF instances.
  • License Management (Useful in Public Cloud Deployments) - The WCC can be used as a license server for BYOL deployments.
  • Role-based Administration - You can restrict access to system resources based on the roles assigned to users.
  • Tag management - Tags can be created to group and organize all connected WAF instances based on the location, company, department, etc,.
  • Standardizing the Base Configuration - Create a base configuration that can be associated with one or more connected WAF instances.
