Scope:
All Barracuda Web Application Firewalls, all firmware versions.
Answer:
Use the following steps to test the applicable operating mode:
Bridge Mode
- Configure the WAN IP address and add new services.
- Connect a cross over cable from the NIC card on a laptop computer to the WAN port on the front of the Barracuda Web Application Firewall.
- Connect the LAN port from your Barracuda Web Application Firewall to the network switch that is connected to your web servers.
- Test your web pages, and view the logs updating accordingly.
Full Reverse Proxy
- Connect the LAN port from your Barracuda Web Application Firewall to the network switch that that is connected to your web servers.
- Connect a cross over cable from the NIC card on a laptop computer to the WAN port on the front of the Barracuda Web Application Firewall.
- Create a service using an available IP address and then use the IP for the real server on the back end.
- Test your web pages, and view the logs updating accordingly.
One Arm Reverse Proxy Mode
- Connect the WAN IP of the Barracuda Web Application Firewall to the network switch where the web server resides.
- Create a service using an available IP address in same subnet and then use the IP for the real server on the back end.
- Test your web pages from the service (VIP) IP, and view the logs updating accordingly.
