Solution #00004069
Scope:
Applies to Barracuda Web Application Firewall models 660 and above, all firmware versions.
Answer:
The Barracuda Web Application Firewall uses an integrated anti virus engine to scan files for embedded viruses and malware. Virus scanning is specified on a per URL basis, and should only be enabled for URLs which allow file uploads and downloads. This is recommended to avoid a load on the system as virus checking is a performance intensive task.
-
Navigate to the Websites > Advanced Security page of the Web Application Firewall web interface.
-
In the Advanced Security section, locate the service you would like to enable Anti Virus checking on and click Edit. Optionally, you can create a new service by clicking Add.
-
In the Edit URL Policy section:
a. Set Enable Virus Scan to Yes.
b. Set Status to On.
c. Set Mode to Active. -
Click Save Changes.
When the Virus Scan feature is enabled for a service, all requests passing through the Barracuda Web Application Firewall for that service are scanned for viruses, and any traffic containing viruses is blocked.
