Barracuda Web Application Firewall

How can I forward the client IP in the form of a header and forward it to the backend server with my Barracuda Web Application Firewall?

Solution #00004247

Scope:

This solution applies to all Barracuda Web Application Firewalls, models 460 and above.

Answer:

You can forward the source IP/client IP to the backend servers. By default, this is turned on and the header "X-Forwarded-For" contains the client IP/source IP.

With the exception of a Web Application Firewall model 360, you can customize this header. Click on Web sites > Web Site Translations > Request Rewrite and choose the web site where you would like to make the change.

You can edit the default rule (default-req-rewrite-rule) by clicking on Edit.  Change the header name from "X-Forwarded-For" to the custom header name that you want.
