How should I configure the NIC card interface speed and duplex mode of my Barracuda Web Filter?

Solution #00000629

Scope:
Barracuda Web Filters, 4.2 or higher

Answer:
The Barracuda Web Filter attempt to autodetect network speed and duplexity. For example, if you would like to configure the Barracuda to communicate at a speed of 1000Mbps, manually set the switch connected to the Barracuda Networks product to 1000BaseT and restart the Barracuda. The Barracuda should then be able to auto-detect the setting and adjust itself to 1000Mbps. Do be careful to set the network speed within your network's limits.

If this does not work, please call Barracuda Networks Technical Support for assistance. Most networks will auto-negotiate correctly, but there are occasions when this may need to be set manually. Changing the speeds of the Network Interface Cards must be done very carefully. If done incorrectly, it can lead to a loss of connectivity. A support technician can diagnose the problem and recommend the correct configuration for your Barracuda Networks product and associated network hardware.

In the latest Firmware 12 now you should be able to go to Basic Tab and the IP Config page and see the bottom of the page there are setting for the NIC interfaces, the default settings are Auto/Auto, any changes will be forced and should match your other devices settings also.
It may be needed to confirm with a 10' Cat6e cable or a crossover cable even, and confirm all settings are working better if you are seeing issues with negotiation speed or duplex.
