Why aren't my domain exemptions being recognized on my Barracuda Web Filter?

Solution #00003397

Scope:
All Barracuda Web Filters, all firmware versions.

Answer:
If you've configured a domain exception on the Block/Accept > Domains page that is not being honored, make sure there isn't any www preceding the domain name. For example, you would want to enter barracuda.com instead of www.barracuda.com

If you specify a domain name with a preceding www on the Block/Accept > Domains page, the exception may be too precise to catch every outgoing connection to that address. Using the more general form without the www ensures that it will work regardless of how the user enters the address into their browser.
