Barracuda Web Security Gateway

Why does my Barracuda Web Security Gateway show an expired SSL certificate?

  • Type: Knowledgebase
  • Date changed: one year ago
Solution number: 00006799

Scope:

Barracuda Web Security Gateways use the default certificate for secure administration.

Answer:

If you are using the default Barracuda certificate on your Web Security Gateway for secure administration, you may see a message that the certificate is expired when trying to log in to the Web Security Gateway GUI. The default Barracuda certificate is shipped with the Web Security Gateway for the purposes of testing SSL configurations on the Web Security Gateway and is not recommended for production purposes. If you do use the default certificate and it is expired, you will need to provide either a private (self-signed) certificate or a trusted certificate from a trusted certificate authority. You cannot regenerate a new default certificate from the Web Security Gateway.
